The following housing services are available from the Alameda County healthy Homes Department.
In Home Lead Consultations
The Lead-based Property Consultation Program is available in the cities of Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland for properties built before 1978. This free consultation will help you identify and reduce lead hazards in your home.
Available for residential properties built before 1978 in Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland.
Free Lead Paint Hazard Repair Grants
Approved applicants are provided with free lead testing, grant funding of up to $10,000 per unit for lead paint hazard repairs, free inspection for other healthy housing hazards that may be eligible for additional supplemental funds, and an assigned professional who will provide extensive project assistance to help make your home or property lead-safe.
Available to approved owners of pre-1960 residential properties. Income guidelines apply.
Homeowner Minor Home Repair Grants
Approved applicants receive grant assistance for minor plumbing repairs, carpentry, electrical repairs, railings, grab bars, toilets, doors, locks, water heaters and more.
Available to approved property owners in Albany, Dublin, Emeryville, Oakland, Newark, Union City, and the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Cherryland, Castro Valley, Hayward Acres, Hillcrest Knolls, Fairview, San Lorenzo, and Sunol.
