Lead Week 2022

Lead Week 2022

There's more to know about lead

Here in Alameda County, lead poisoning continues to be a health concern for young children in our community. Lead sources include paint from older homes built before 1978 with peeling or chipping paint, lead in soil, some imported spices, and even home remedies. This Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, celebrated in the final week of each October, we encourage everyone to empower themselves on how to stay healthy by getting educated. Lead poisoning is still here, but with education we can work to help eliminate it.

This year's national theme for Lead Poisoning Prevention Week is:

  1. Get the Facts:Find out about the hazards of lead.
  2. Get Your Home Tested: Find out how to minimize risks of lead exposure by hiring a certified professional to test older homes for lead.
  3. Get Your Child Tested:A simple blood test can detect lead. Consult your health care provider for advice on testing your children.
